Military Working Dog-Corup H328
MWD Corup was assigned to the 11 Security Forces Group based out Joint Base Andrews, Md. for over 10 years. Corup was certified as an explosive detector dog from Lackland. Corup’s primary duties at Andrews was to provide Presidential Protection since Air Force One is based out of that base. His adopted dad, Tim Kisner, also had the honor of working with Corup as his handler from 2010 till 2014. They conducted well over 200 explosive sweeps for personnel to include President Obama, Vice President Biden, Sec. of State, Sec. of Defense, Prime Ministers of many foreign countries, and Presidents of multiple countries.
Corup had many medical issues as a young dog to include food allergies and paw infections which prevented him from deploying until his ripe old age of 9 when he and his handler deployed to Eskan Village, Saudi Arabia where they worked sweeping over 200 vehicles a day gaining access to the installation. Furthermore, they were tasked to provide sweeps for Vice President Biden during his visit to Saudi Arabia ensuring the route his motorcade was safe as well as the U.S. Embassy. During our time there Corup had one response on a vehicle that was later determined to be a decoy. It was said that a local terrorist organization had observed this American’s vehicle off the installation and they rubbed an explosive material over the rear tail light to test whether our dog’s would respond. Corup responded like a champ deterring any future attempts.
Tim has been on many missions around the world with Corup to include Canada, Switzerland, and Moldova. Corup gave 10 of his best years of his life protecting our nation’s leaders and ensuring the freedom and safety of millions who have been to, visited, and transitioned through Joint Base Andrews, and around the world. On 22 October while in the care of Corup’s very first handler, April Lorah, Corup feel extremely ill. He was kept over night after an entire day of testing with no diagnosis. On the 23 October after an ultrasound, the vet determined him to have gastroenteritis. After starting him on medications he started having an amazing turn around just 2 hours later. To ensure he was properly diagnosed and monitored he ended up staying the night again. He has since been released and is home resting with April until his dad comes back from his TDY.
