About Military Working Dog Eddy L417
MWD Eddy began his career on April 20th, 2007. Once certified at Lackland AFB, TX as a Patrol/Explosive Detector Dog in March 2008, he arrived to his duty assignment at Vandenberg AFB, CA on April 11th, 2008. In the prime of Eddy’s career, his quality of work in explosive detection was top notch. Eddy’s temperament was level and he is very sociable in the presence of strangers, however he had the ability to switch and display expressions of aggression during high threat situations when required. That ability was irreplaceable in controlling suspects in any situation.
I was assigned as Eddy’s handler on March 18th, 2010. He was my very first MWD. We connected immediately and would go on to form an unbreakable bond that is even stringer today. We went on several missions in support of the United States Secret Service (USSS), and also deployed to the Middle East in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Eddy has been deployed four times all over the Middle East and has been on several USSS mission protecting the President Of The United States, the Vice President Of The United States, Secretary of State, the Governor of California, and other prestigious world leaders. I was able to adopt Eddy once he retired in July 2015. He is adjusting to retirement life very well, and is currently living with me and my family in MI.
