Supporting K9 heroes and their families
Gizmo’s Gift was founded on 29 January 2014, by Army veteran, Lisa Phillips. After her work with members of Congress to reclassify Military Working Dogs (MWDs) from “equipment” to a Canine Member of the Armed Forces, and also to offer them recognition with an award for their time in service, transportation home from their retirement station overseas, back state side, and medical care. The legislation, Canine Service Member of the Armed Forces Act, was passed and signed into law in Jan 2013.
Gizmos Gift’s main mission is to provide financial assistance to active duty K9s or to families adopting a retiring 4-legged hero; military working dogs, contract working dogs, police/TSA/Border Patrol/ Search & rescue, and/or any other type of law enforcement K9. The financial assistance includes help with all medical needs such as but not limited to; surgery, routine exams/vaccinations, prescription diets, medications, emergency care, wheel chairs, ramps. We also help with any transportation costs that may arise in order to bring the family’s new hero home; from overseas, or state to state. Gizmo’s Gift educates the public about the great service these K9s provide for our local community’s, nation, and world by hosting events in our home state of TX, and nation wide.
Gizmo’s Gift is registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Contributions are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law. Our tax identification number is Federal Tax ID #46-4715929.
